a gel liner revolution?

Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner, £18.50

I'm sure you've read countless reviews of this eyeliner by now. I admit, I was a little late to the party, but I just couldn't justify the cost until I stumbled across in it Manchester Airport Duty Free. It was in a set with a full sized version of the They're Real Mascara, and it just seemed like such a good deal that I couldn't pass it up. I've read mixed reviews on this, so I thought I'd offer my opinion, just in case anybody isn't yet sure about splashing out on it.

lorac pro: is it worth the hype?

This palette has been absolutely everywhere for as long as I can remember. It's constantly being raved about by beauty bloggers and I've always been curious about whether or not it's as good as people claim. I was lucky enough to get my hands on it when I recently visited the US and I've been very impressed so far.

the hair saviour

Not Your Mother's Intensive Hair Unit Renewal Treatment
Not Your Mother's is one of those brands that I've heard about repeatedly on countless beauty blogs, but I've never had the chance to try anything, largely because it's not yet available in the UK. The website does say that UK distribution is coming soon though, which is an exciting prospect! While browsing Walmart when I was on holiday, I found a selection of products and picked a few up, this being one of them. After only a few uses, it's proven to be one of my favourite hair products.

september favourites!

this month has passed by way too quickly for my liking. in general, the entire month of September is a favourite for me, as it's my birthday month (if you're reading this on the day I posted it, my birthday is TODAY!). I also love the change in weather and general atmosphere that makes September such a lovely, cosy little month.
Let's take a look at the beauty products which brightened up my little world this month

my make up storage - part two

As promised, here is the second part of my make up organisation post. This time, we'll be delving deep into the big white cabinet which houses the majority of my make up. I think this was from QVC, it was a graduation present from my grandparents. I'm not sure you can get it any more, but I'll add a link if I manage to find one.

OPI Icons of Style

I'm a sucker for a new OPI collection. When I heard that they were releasing a range of shades based on Coca Cola beverages, I was beyond excited. Especially for the Diet Coke shade, as it's probably my favourite drink ever. It took me a while to actually pick up any of the shades, but when I saw this set of two on sale in the World of Coca Cola in Atlanta, the opportunity was too good to pass up.

My Signature is "DC" is a bright shimmery silver inspired by Diet Coke. This has a different name in Europe and is instead called Turn on the Haute Light. I believe this is because the majority of mainland Europe has Coke Light instead of Diet Coke (which is absolutely not the same drink. I lived in Germany for a year and Coke Light is horrible :( ) I've been wearing this as an accent nail lately and it's really gorgeous: it doesn't take that many coats to become opaque and it's lasted a really long time on me. I couldn't have asked for a better nail polish to represent my favourite drink.

Coca-Cola Red is exactly what the name suggests: the exact red colour of the label on a Coke bottle. I think it might be a tiny bit darker on the nails, but that might be because I did more than one coat. In the bottle it's practically exactly the same colour as the Coke label. This is also very long lasting and pretty much opaque in two coats. I love a classic red nail polish, and I love that this one is an extra special shade of red.

This has been my favourite combo to wear since I bought the set: above is two coats without top coat (because I couldn't find it).
These shades are available in a set together or separately; they're currently on sale at Beauty Bay.

a glimpse into my makeup storage - part one

When I got back from my holiday with a whole load of new make up and beauty products, I decided it was time for a major reshuffle. The way I stored a lot of things changed, and I'm finally pretty happy with my set up. I thought I'd offer an insight into how I store all of my stuff. It'll be split into two parts, with the first part focussing on the general make up area and then the second diving into the super organised white cabinet you see in the middle there.
Let's go!

autumn lipstick picks

Autumn has to be my favourite season of the year. I love the cooler weather, the chance to wear cosy jumpers and boots, my birthday...hands down, the best time of the year for me. It's also an excuse to break out the darker berry lip shades, and I've gathered a few gorgeous products to recommend to you all.

i have returned!

Hey everyone!

I'm finally back from my holiday! I've been busy unpacking and coping with jetlag which is my excuse for the lack of posts this week :( Just know that I'm hard at work taking photos and writing new posts that I hope will be up for you to enjoy very soon.
I did a lot of shopping.
I've included the above photo from my Instagram to show you all exactly how much shopping I did on my holiday. There are a lot of new products here to be tested and reviewed, so I have a lot of posts to work on.
Watch this space!

soap and glory kick ass concealer - first impressions and a sort of review

Hello everyone!
On a recent trip to Boots in Bluewater, I was looking for some new products to try. I know, I'm going to the US next week and there will probably be no end of shiny new make up items calling my name, but I like to shop! I've wanted to try Soap & Glory for a while, having heard endless wonderful things about the products: the fact that they were part of a 'buy one, get one half price' offer made up my mind for me. I grabbed the Kick Ass Concealer and the Archery Brow Tint (review coming soon!). Having tried out the concealer and worn it for a full day, I'm ready to share my first impressions of the product and offer a kind of review.
Onwards!

models own speckled eggs polish - dove

the models own bottle shop is a dangerous place. When you enter, you should be prepared to leave with less money but more gorgeous nail polishes. I was lured in to the store in Bluewater last week, and left with a few things, one of them being this beautiful 'Speckled Eggs' polish. It was a range I'd wanted to try since they launched earlier this year and I'm so impressed with this polish.

my holiday make up bag

By the time you read this, I will (finally) be on my holiday, making my way around the southern states of the USA with my family. I've been looking forward to this trip for a long time, as it's been a pretty stressful year, and I've taken some time to consider what make up I want to take with me. My plan is obviously to buy a lot of new products out there, but I'm taking some old favourites along with me anyway.
Read on to find out what made the cut!

august favourites

August has been a very strange month. It feels like it passed very quickly, but I can't really remember what I did! Now that it's over, I've got a list of product that I've really been enjoying this month, with some new items and some rediscovered treasures.

Saturday 30 August 2014

models own egg shaped make up applicator

I buy a lot of beauty products based on reviews that I read on blogs. Most of my holiday shopping list is justified by good reviews that I've read by my favourite bloggers. I can be swayed by a good review. That being said, I still cannot bring myself to spend the money on an official Beauty Blender. It's so expensive for a sponge. I can't do it. So when I saw these professed dupes in the Models Own Bottle Shop last week, I thought I'd try them out, and see if they're possibly a more affordable dupe.

my favourite hair products

Hello everyone!

Today I thought I'd take you through some of my favourite hair products that I use on a regular basis. Hair products are not something I've discussed here on the blog before, so I thought I'd be a bit different today. I feel like when my hair looks good, everything else seems a little bit better. That being said, however, most of my hair products are quite affordable.

Take a look!

stila - in the garden palette

I feel like I've seen countless reviews on the Stila In the Light palette, and I researched the product a couple of months ago to see if it was something worth investing my money in. In the process, I discovered the In the Garden palette, which took the same form but contained more green shades. As a lifelong lover of green eyeshadows, I thought it was well worth a purchase, but I couldn't find that many reviews to guide me along the way. So, I decided that I would review mine, just to make it easier for those who'd prefer the green tones to the neutral shades of the popular In the Light palette!

balance me moisture rich face cream

having received this cute little tube as a free gift with glamour magazine a couple of months ago, i put it in my beauty drawer, waiting to one day be tried and reviewed. seeing as i'm almost done with my tiny sample of the clinique dramatically different, i thought i'd try it out and let you know what i think.

revlon colorstay moisture stains

There are a lot of posts floating around about these little beauties lately. I feel like they were released in the UK really soon after the initial US launch, which is a new one for Revlon. I remember waiting months for the lip butters! A very nice special offer in Boots led to me picking up four shades, and I'm pretty impressed!

why are you sad - a film review

A bit of a change from the usual content today, as I have a film review to share with you. The film in question is an independent short film written and directed by a good friend of mine and that I was fortunate enough to see before its official release.

the 'holy grail' eyeliner

L’Oreal Superliner Black Lacquer (£6.49, available here)

I don’t feel like my face is complete without eyeliner. It was the first make-up item I ever really got into, and I still love it. I’ve tried so many different types and brands over the years, looking for the perfect black eyeliner. Then, last summer, I discovered the L’Oreal Superliner when browsing the shelves in Boots, and I’ve never looked back.

holiday wishlist

I’m jetting off to the US at the end of this month for a little road trip around the southern states with my family, and I can’t wait! While I’m there, I’m sure we’ll find a little bit of time for a shopping trip, and I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. I’ve put together a little shopping list of products I want to pick up when I get there. I thought it might make an interesting blog post to let you have a little look at some of the products on my shopping list.

benefit boxed powders

I’ve always coveted the Benefit Boxed Powders. Way back before I had the chance to buy one, I used to look at them on the internet, loving the cute little boxes and tiny brushes. I finally got my hands on my first one a couple of years ago, and since then, I’ve built up my collection. I still only have four but when you consider the hefty price tag attached to each one, I’d say that was pretty impressive! Today, I’m offering a little look inside my collection.

l'oreal skin perfection 15 second miracle cleansing oil

After I got back into using waterproof mascara earlier this year, I found that ordinary eye makeup removers and cleansing waters just weren't cutting it. No matter how hard I tried, I ended up with black rings around my eyes that were almost impossible to budge. On a little shopping spree, I spotted this bright orange bottle on the shelf and was drawn in by its claim to dissolve 'ever waterproof make-up'. I immediately purchased it and took it home to try.

all about maybelline

I’ve been collecting make up for years. Don’t worry, I’m not a hoarder – well, any more. I ended up clearing out my make up drawer the other day and throwing out about five different half empty foundations. I don’t know why I still had them; I probably thought that the time would come when I’d be in desperate need of a whole load of foundation that I didn’t like and didn’t even match my skin. You know, that day might come. Probably not, though.

I digress. What I was trying to say was that, while I love some high end brands and products, I am a poor student and I have  to get most of my make up from the High Street. I think a lot of people are similar, so I decided to create a series of posts about ‘drugstore’ brands and my experiences with them. We’re starting off with Maybelline,  a brand I have a lot of experience with.

the lip product addict tag!

Hello everyone!

Ever since I saw this tag floating around YouTube and the blogging community a couple of months ago, I thought it would be an interesting thing to try out. Since my blog is so new, I think that tags are a good way to allow you all to get to know me a bit and see what I like.

july favourites

It’s a little late to do July favourites, I know. ‘We’re almost a whole week into August!’, I hear you cry. ‘What have you been doing, Eloise?’. I am afraid I don’t have a good answer to that. I have to admit I’ve mostly been playing The Sims 2. Thrilling.

However, I am here now! I have a list of favourite products and some dodgy iPhone photography because the charger for my camera is unfortunately missing. So, read on if you want to find out about my favourite things from the month of July.

get to know me tag!

Hello everybody!

Having just started my blog, I was at a loss as to what my first ever post should be. It feels like there's a lot of pressure to make it a good one. After much deliberation, I decided to find a generic 'Get To Know Me' type questionnaire and fill that in, just so anybody reading this can find out a bit more about me.
